Does replacing or lining a main sewer line require a permit in the City of Livonia?
Yes. Replacing, lining, or making structural repairs to a residential main sewer lateral requires a pulled Plumbing Permit through the City of Livonia Inspection Department. Emergency sewer repair permits can be expedited directly with the department to avoid project delays. Additionally, if the pipe repair extends past your property line into the city right-of-way or easement, a separate Right-of-Way Permit from the Livonia Engineering Department is required.
